Roper Clocks Fastest Time of the Day on May 15, 2010 at Clayton C. Bryant Arena

Clayton C. Bryant, Sr. hosted another barrel race horseshow on Saturday, May 15th 2010, at Clayton C. Bryant arena, here in Appomattox County.  The show went great.  There were vendors, concession, sheep rides, and of course lots of barrel racing.

The first open class consisted of 107 participants.  Adam Roper, Clayton Bryant and Sharon Bryant McCormick’s jockey placed 3rd in the 1st class on Sharon’s Lady La Dash, 5th on Clayton’s Diamonds and Fame, and 6th on Sharon’s BF Shanenigan.

In the 2nd class, Roper did even better, running the fastest time of the whole day’s events on Clayton’s Diamonds and Fame.  He faired well on Sharon’s horse, Lady La Dash,  in the 2nd class, also,  placing 4th.

Clay Mann, Clayton’s great-grandson had an awesome showing.  He placed 2nd in the Pewee clocking a 18.70.  He placed 3rd in the 4th division in the Youth 18 years of age and under class, clocking an even faster time of an 18.4 on his pony, Blaze.  By running this time, he was able to pick up 4 points out of the 5 points for the year end awards.

Raylee Roper, Clayton’s granddaughter, did very well, also.  She ran her new horse, Thunder and picked up 3 points in the Youth Class 18 years and under class for her year end awards.  Raylee seems to better her time everytime she rides.

Heath Drinkard of Appomattox did well placing 4th in the Youth Class 4th division.  Josie McCormick, Clayton’s great-granddaughter placed in the PeeWee, as well.

Congratulations to our Appomattox Barrel Racers! Watch the Times Virginian to see when our next show is scheduled and come join us for a great time.
