Clayton Bryant, an Appomattox, Virginia real estate investor, has been buying, selling, and racing barrel and pole bending horses off and on for many years.
Many argue he has owned the best of the best. Some of the horses he is most proud of are: Sporty Chic, Reach And Go, Brave Phantom, Promises To Dash, and last but definitely the most well loved, Hot Shot Rey, who was one of the two first horses to be inducted into the Pro Tour Hall of Fame in 2005. He owned these horses many years ago and won many barrel races with them. After Hot Shot died, Clayton exited the barrel seen for about 10 years, thinking he would never find another horse to fill Hot Shot’s shoes.
However, after daughter Sharon Bryant, won the NAS Horse World Championship with beloved Doittoem Martha, he seemed to edge his way back into the barrel racing scene. His granddaughter, Kay Kay married jockey and trainer Adam Roper and it became all too easy for him to begin trying to find that one great horse again.
Many believe he found the closet horse to the best, when he purchased proven Triple Crown Winner and BFA Open World Champion, Promises To Dash, who he likes to call “Squirrel.”
Over the past two years, Clayton has been buying many nice colts; Dash To Fame, being his favorite pedigree. In order to be as competitive as possible in these futurities and derbies he has finally completed a gorgeous large indoor arena to facilitate his horses and trainer.
